Chemical Peel
Care Instructions
Chemical peel treatments are administered by licensed professionals and can rejuvenate the skin by exfoliating dead cells, reducing the appearance of wrinkles, scars, and hyperpigmentation, and promoting smoother, more evenly toned skin.
Prepare For Your Procedure
- Please arrive without makeup, if feasible, for your appointment.
- For a week prior, steer clear of skin irritants like products with Retin-A, retinol, benzoyl peroxide, glycolic/salicylic acids, astringents, or Vitamin C.
- Refrain from waxing, tweezing, or using depilatory creams on the area to be treated for one week.
The Day of Your Procedure
- The total session will take approximately 30 minutes, which includes a thorough consultation to answer any questions and guidance on caring for your skin post-peel.
- The peel application itself is quick, lasting around 20 minutes. Sensitivity varies among patients, but sensations of tingling or burning are normal and typically diminish quickly.
After Your Procedure
- Post-treatment, it's common to experience redness, crusting, dryness, tenderness, itching, and peeling for one to two weeks.
- Clean your face gently twice daily and apply a simple moisturizer like Aquaphor, Cetaphil, or CeraVe after washing and as needed to combat dryness.
- It's important not to pull or rub off flaking skin to avoid scarring.
- Strict sun avoidance is crucial. Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen of at least SPF 30 at all times, even during short commutes. We recommend wide brim hats as well.
- Hold off on laser treatments, waxing, depilatories, and microdermabrasion for three weeks.
- Resume products like Retin-A, glycolic acids, and other exfoliating agents only after seven days.
- Steer clear of swimming, saunas, or hot tubs for a week following your peel.
- Follow through with any antiviral medication regimen if prescribed by your provider.
